70th Year!

In its 70 years of existence, one banana company still stand after a myriad of mixed frustrations, denials, triumphs and victories. It's still standing amidst chaos brought about by the challenges framed by man and given by nature. Its strength lies not on the physical foundation and vastness of the plantation it operates but on the resiliency of the people under its wings. It's flight over the years overcomes adversities not by soaring high but by being steady in front of gusty winds.

One can see it coming knowing who its founder is. Known for being a man with great connections, he was also a tactician pointing specific and precise steps wherever the wind blows. The great culture he had developed along with trusted allies who come and go made impact on thousands of lives each day. His profound keenness of detail and crisp thinking, enabled the company to go in strides racing to a sure victory in an end game still very far in sight.

Through the years of its existence, the company's bumpy ride thru the ups and downs of business and politics put experiences and wisdom for those who witnessed. With these great manifestation of greatness, one can only wonder how did it happen? It did not rely on machineries alone; it did not rely on people alone; it did not rely on connections alone; it depended on the combination of these things and considering each as interdependent on each other to a point where the name of the company is now synonymous to the people and technology within the system that it operates.

People had come and go thru the plantation, literally, as it covers a whole community and profound cultural discipline. Onlookers, spectators, both for and against the company, experience the closely knit workers forming a familial bond of people from different tribes and languages and protecting each other thru thick and thin. It is just one way of expressing gratitude to the company who had invested a lot in protecting and taking care of their families.

Tagum Agricultural development Co, Inc, or simply TADECO, is a product of hardship, grit, resilience and faith in the Almighty. Not a single triumph nor a humbling defeat is celebrated and accepted without offering it to the One above. The Lord's guidance is always in the midst and a sought-after refuge for all who have come to experience the company. It is one pillar standing side by side with the people and the company within the community.

Don Antonio O. Floirendo, the founder and patriarch of the company envisioned to be of help for those who might need help. The realization of this noble intention is magnified in how TADECO, as it is today, provides for the livelihood of thousands of people within, around and about the plantation. It's ever extending arm of spreading its culture and helping people had slowly crawled outwardly to other regions in Mindanao from the community-turned-barangay named after him in Panabo, Davao del Norte.

Today, as it celebrates its 70th founding anniversary, TADECO takes pride in having the best people serving each other; the best technology and operating procedures maintaining and improving its productivity and quality and the best management-worker relations looking after the welfare of the families in its arms. Indeed, the long 70 years is still very short for a company which refuses to yield to challenges. It aims and should aim to go further beyond what it is capable now.

As it starts another 70 years, TADECO is grateful,  to the people (officers and workers) who had come and helped the company achieve its culture of excellence. It is gratified to those people who are presently maintaining and continuously improving the culture. It is thankful to those who are still to come in the hope of sharing a culture built around a once dark and vast swampy land.
